Welcome to the new website of Grimley Parish Council. Grimley Parish is situated on the west bank of the River Severn, to the north of Worcester City and sits astride the A443. The Parish is comprised mainly of the rural settlements of Grimley Village, Monkwood Green and Sinton Green. Each settlement retains its own identity and is surrounded by open space. There are also the hamlets of Oakhall Green, Birchall Green, Worlds End, Moseley and the communities of Walton Lane, Dark Lane and Northington.
Situated in Grimley Village is a thriving Primary School, St Bartholomew's Church, a pub ('Camp Inn' - located on Camp Lane), the old brick pits and medieval fish ponds - a designated SSSI leading down to the River Severn and several farms. The area has been the subject of past sand & gravel extraction; the resultant re-instated land being put back to private use including grazing, arable, some recent major tree planting and, fishing lakes - all in which wildlife thrives. Visitors and bird watchers are reminded to stay on the designated footpaths at all times in this area.
Monkwood Green itself is a registered Common and SSSI owned by the parish council. There is one local pub ‘The Fox Inn’, several farms and Monk Wood itself which is managed and maintained by the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust. The common is home to a number of endangered plant and insect species, so please take care when visiting this very special area.
Situated in Sinton Green is The Grimley Peace Hall - the hub of the parish, which is available for private bookings via their separate website. There is also a pub ('The Open Ditch' - previously known as the New Inn), a pond and a large, registered Village Green - again owned by the parish council.
