Grimley Parish Council is inviting residents to take part in a public consultation on its new draft policy:

“Managing Activities on Parish Council Owned Land.”

This policy sets out how Grimley Parish Council will manage and protect the parish’s Common Land and Village Green, including Monkwood Green (Common Land and SSSI) and Sinton Green Village Green, both of which are valued local spaces enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.

The policy explains:

  • How common land, village greens and the SSSI are protected under law
  • What activities are permitted or require permission
  • Rules around parking, vehicular access, track maintenance and skips
  • Guidance on planting, grazing, grass cutting and weed control
  • Arrangements for events, recreation and community activities
  • Protection against encroachment and misuse
  • Provisions relating to dog walking, memorial benches, ashes, fireworks and mobile businesses

The aim of the policy is to protect these spaces, ensure public safety, safeguard biodiversity and support continued enjoyment by the community, while preventing damage and inappropriate use. Importantly, it does not seek to change long‑established or volunteer activities carried out with the Parish Council’s agreement.

The draft policy is now open to public consultation.

📅 Consultation closes: 30th June 2026 10pm
