After many years of concerns and persistent Parish Council lobbying with the aid of residents and our County and District Cllrs, it's great to see real progress being made to tackle the longstanding drainage and surface water problems on Dark Lane and Walton Lane.
This week, contractors from Highways have rediscovered existing header walls at Bells Bank on Walton Lane, while on Dark Lane new gullies and culvert pipes have been installed, along with new pipework beneath the road itself. These works form part of efforts to better manage surface water and reduce flooding issues in the area.
While there is still more to do, it's encouraging to see tangible improvements finally taking place.
We hope these measures will help make the roads safer and more reliable throughout the winter months, particularly for residents, motorists, pedestrians and the school bus service that relies on these routes.
Thank you to everyone who has continued to raise concerns and support efforts to secure these improvements.
There are a couple of raised manholes and grates that have now been reported to be rectified - please continue to take care driving down Dark Lane towards the A443.
